Boren Hanging Coffins lying on the cliff from the Ming Dynasty, compose the unique scenic spot in the Yibin Area. There are about 265 hanging coffins in all, most of them located in the Matang Dam and Suma Bay. The coffins are usually laid just 10 to 50 meters high upon the ground. But it was said that the highest coffin was laid on the height of 100 meters. The hanging coffins exist in three ways: Lying on the wood which was hammer-bowed into the cliff, man-digged caves and inartificial caves. Most of the coffins remained in good condition. Some of them had funerary objects in it. Most funerary objects were ceramic pots, bamboo-wood wares and ironware for daily use during that period.

The most important part of the hanging coffins is along the southwest of the Matang Dam. There are nearly 223 coffins laid on the cliffs in this area and most of them were laid on the wood peg. There are some carvings and paintings on the rock besides the coffins. The ancient paintings show some ancient activities such as riding horse, hunting, dancing, etc. There are also some images of animals and daily tools. The rock paintings are markings of the ancient people.
