  • Lhasa Bangong Lake (Bangong Hu)
    Travel in China>Southwest China>Tibet China>Lhasa China>

Bangong Lake is located 12 kilometers northwest of the Ali area, Ritu County. The elevation of the lake face is 4,241 meters and the water depth is 57 meters. The drainage area is 28,714 square kilometers.
Bangong Lake is the longest lake with half located within the boundaries of China's Ali and another half flowing to India. What is an interesting fact is that although it is lake, within the boundaries of our country is the fresh water but within the boundaries of India is the salty water; bitter and astringent and not fit for consumption where no fishes grow also.
Perhaps in fairness to the owner, the lake water is clear and sweet within the boundaries of China and is fit for consumption. There are many fishes in the lake and could be fished by hand. There are the bare carp and the unusual crack abdomen fish, the Niao Island wild goose, the gull, black crane and some 20 types of birds perches the multiplication, blotting out the sky and the sound spreading several miles. It is a splendid sight, but no grass grown on the other side of the lake. On the contrary, within the boundaries of India the salty lake water becomes stale, but the bund meadow is lush and a vitality piece.
